OYO dance troupe resumes its tours
After two years with barely any performances, the OYO dance troupe could resume touring schools.
It had a tour in the ||Kharas region where it presented its repertoire on alcohol and drug abuse, including the new piece ‘Alive?’ and the new version of the piece ‘Another party with Helen’. It was also an opportunity to revive ‘Ania’. In the ||Kharas region there are lots of problems with alcohol and drug abuse. 13 schools were visited, reaching 2,897 people. This tour was made possible thanks to supporting from the Horizon Trust.
It also had a tour in the Ohangwena and Omusati regions, where it presented its repertoire on gender-based violence. It presented ‘Betrayed’, ‘the Moirai’ and ‘Concrete angels’. Those two regions have high rates of gender-based violence, in particular rape. It visited 24 schools, reaching 16,736 people. This tour was made possible thanks to supporting from the Embassy of Finland in Namibia.
We are proud to be back on the road and to reach learners again with important messages.
