Sugar Daddies
No.1, January:
"The reason why I go out with older people is because school learners will just give you money to buy a pen, which means you worked for nothing...
Older people from the location will give you money to buy soap, or more. If you tell the school boy you are leaving him, he will maybe give you 50 cents. Give me a break: what can I do with 50 cents? That is why I am dating older people who are working and get paid. School boys just want to have sex and go."
I received many similar texts. It seems nowadays transactional sex (sex in exchange for gifts) is the norm. Sex as an expression of love, as the mutual giving and receiving of pleasure, is seen as being valueless, like working for nothing. This is a shift that is dangerous. Sex is beautiful, and should be an end in itself. Sex as a tool to access goods is not right. hy are young people nowadays so convinced that they should receive something in exchange for sex? Where did the love go? Where did the feelings go? What is the new meaning of sex in our society?
