'We were young' selected at the Lola Kenya screen audiovisual media festival

'We were young' dvd cover OYO was proud to receive the news that its latest DVD, ‘we were young’, was selected for the 5th edition of the Lola Kenya Screen audiovisual media festival to be held in Kenya from 9 to 14 August 2010. The films submitted to the annual festival, whose theme this year is ‘Passion, Innovation and Adaptability’, came from 37 countries spread across five continents. ‘We were young’ will compete in the 14-Plus Award Competition. ‘We were young’ tells the story of four young Namibians who drop out of school. It is currently used by the OYO production team (using our big screen and projector) and the OYO media team (using local TV sets) in schools. Depending on the school, facilitation focuses on the importance to education (focussing on the story of John) or the consequences of alcohol and drug abuse (focusing on the story of Tyson). To date, over 8,000 people in Namibia saw the DVD and excellent feedback has been received. More screenings are scheduled for the period June to September.
