One of the most prestigious cultural festivals in Africa took place in Grahamstown, South Africa, between 28 June and 7 July.  South Africa’s National Arts Festival this year played host to many African and inter-continental artists, and Ombetja Yehinga are proud to be one of them.
OYO staff members Philippe Talavera and Alpha Sililo travelled to Grahamstown to help set up and work on the exhbition, and while there were able to sample some of the other wonderful work on offer from comedians, musicians, dramatists and visual artists.
The Caring Namibian Man photographic exhibition has travelled as far afield as the Netherlands and Canada, and during the 10 days of the festival in South Africa it once again proved its ability to touch people of varying cultures and backgrounds.
Robyn Sassen of Cue, the festival’s newsletter, described the exhibition as “one of the most understated visual arts shows on the Main Festival, but it packs a powerful punch”.  The exhibition was also reviewed by South African national daily newspaper The Star, the article to appear this week (w/c 9 July).
