Over the past few years, OYO has enjoyed the success of many of its films. 2009 promises to be a busy year for OYO and we are continuing with more films.
Many young people think that life after school will be better since they will be free from parents and teachers. However, the reality in Namibia is that for many young Namibians life after school can be challenging, with limited job opportunities and few training and educational opportunities for those who have not passed their Grade 12 exams or do not have the funds to continue with further education or training.
OYO’s new play titled ‘We were young’, address issues such as responsibility, teenage pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, and peer pressure. Peer pressure among young people who are unemployed and limited in their options is especially significant, and often young people engage in petty crimes to follow their peers, not realizing the consequences.
The production has been rehearsed and was presented from 23- 27 February in 10 schools in Windhoek, namely;
Jan Mor Secondary School
Eros Girls School

Pioneer Boys School
Centaurus High School
Academia High School

The play will also tour the Kunene and Erongo regions from 01-18 March.
